Sponsorships and scholarships – a great idea!
When Sabine – the initiator and founder of the Midnightsun-school support association – told us that there was now the opportunity to take on sponsorships and scholarships, we immediately decided to get involved financially. Compared to what Sabine has achieved there – also through her personal presence – this is not really worth reporting. And yet it is perhaps worth a report precisely because it shows how little money can be used to provide children with an education. For 50 euros a month, 10 pupils can go to school. You don’t really have to think twice….
Letter to our sponsored children at the Midnight Sun School in Langbisi
Hello everyone,
Since the beginning of this year, Ralf and I are very proud to be your sponsors. We think that education is the most valuable thing people can have. A good education enables you to take care of yourselves and your families when you grow up. That is why we have decided to sponsor ten of you. We hope that you enjoy your time at school and that you all make good progress in the various subjects and things you learn at school. And we also hope that you have a lot of fun with your classmates at school.
As Sabine is currently with you in Langbinsi, we hope that she will be able to convey our best wishes to you personally. We look forward to receiving information about your learning progress.
Best wishes from Germany from Ralf and Karin
We were very enthusiastic about the idea of providing scholarships for prospective teachers who would not only receive teacher training but also teach at Midnightsun School during and after their training.
Letter to Godfred Bugri – one of the young adults receiving basic teacher training through our scholarship:
Dear Godfred,
We – Ralf and I – are very proud to be able to help you realize your dream of becoming a teacher. From my point of view, teaching children and seeing them grow up is really rewarding. Therefore, I understand your dream and we are very happy that you were successful with your entrance exam at the University of Cape Cost. As Sabine told me, you are already teaching at the school and going to university at the weekend. I hope you enjoy your time as a teacher and as a student and manage to balance both well and be successful. I would love to hear from you once a year (via Sabine) about your progress at university. Sabine sometimes gives me updates on the development of the midnight school in Langbinsi. I am very proud to know her as she is very passionate about what she is doing there. You could be really happy that she has “found your school” and is supporting it.
Best regards
Karin and Ralf
Daase
Daase is the second young adult to be supported by Ralf and Karin. She has been teaching at Midnight Sun International School for several years and is equally popular with her colleagues and the children.
We would be delighted if there were many more supporters for the project. What Sabine Valentin has achieved there deserves our utmost respect. Making a donation is easy. Being on site and being a co-initiator in the construction and expansion of a school is not an everyday occurrence and is something very special.
Thank you Sabine!
Karin and Ralf
