Jonas Müller, Büchold

Jonas is 17 years old and wanted to work as a volunteer after finishing secondary school. At a family party at the end of May 2014, he learns that Sabine Valentin wants to return to Ghana. He spontaneously decides to go with her. He writes an appeal for donations and gets his teachers on board. He managed to collect the impressive sum of 500 euros at his secondary school in Arnstein, which he took directly to Ghana. He also has plenty of donations in kind in his luggage, including checkered notebooks, English books, watercolors, wax crayons and colored pencils.

Once he arrives in Langbinsi, Jonas uses his talent as a craftsman and lays the foundation stone for the school’s future library by building a shelf (the most beautiful one he has ever seen, according to the school’s headmaster! He also repairs broken school desks and helps to build a wall around the school building.

Jonas: “ I would travel to Ghana and the Midnight Sun School again at any time. Many thanks to all the donors from Arnstein and the surrounding area! The stay was a moving experience for me.
